Terry the Worry Monster is a speculative design to help children better engage with their emotions. According to the CDC, 1 in 6 U.S. children ages 2–8 have a diagnosed mental, behavioral, or developmental disorder—the most common of which is anxiety. Terry uses cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT) techniques that can be implemented in everyday life to help children and families achieve better overall wellbeing.

Use of two CBT(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) Techniques: Fear thermometer and the Downward Arrow Technique
The Fear thermometer is a way for the child to assess their own fear from a scale to 1-10. It is a subjective scale, the child needs to determine what each number means. Also parents should ask and try to understand what each number means.
